On May 3rd, LADWP filed an appeal with California’s 1st District Appellate Court in hopes of overturning their recent loss in the Alameda Superior Court. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) plans to divert irrigation water from the Long Valley and Little Round Valley areas without necessary environmental review, threatening local ecosystems. The list of parties notified on the appeal include Mono County, Sierra Club, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The KLVG coalition is reviewing the legal action and possible next steps to protect the local economy, ecosystems, and way of life in Long Valley from Los Angeles’ most recent attempted water grab in a long history of water deals in the Eastern Sierra.
